My best friend Sarah is not just a gorgeous t-girl. She is also an excellent photographer. One Saturday in May, she volunteered to do a photo shoot with me. She wanted to do more than the average put up the backdrop, and snap a couple rolls of film shoot. It was time that we did something a little more adventurous. She had two outdoor locations in mind. At least 30 seconds must have passed while I mulled over the awful terrors of doing a photo shoot outdoors in broad daylight. What if we were attacked, ridiculed, laughed at? With words of encouragement from Sarah, I decided to go for it. It was agreed that we’d meet at her place on Saturday morning. As some of you may know, due to certain situations at home, I can’t work my feminine magic there. I need to go to a remote location. This remote location is quite often Sarah’s house. It’s great to have good friends! I arrived at Sarah’s around 10:00 in the morning. After a few moments (read 2 hours) of preparation, we were ready to head out for the shoot. The first location was to be a local park that has a lovely little stream running through it. I had chosen a clingy new spaghetti strap dress for this shoot. The weather looked a bit threatening, and it was unseasonably warm. Sarah was dressed in her finest boy mode war correspondent fatigues. We made quite an intrepid looking duo I’m sure. The park was fairly crowded as would be expected on a spring Saturday. We walked across a small meadow to a quaint little bridge that crossed the stream. I posed there for several shots. People passing by smiled, and on occasion stopped to watch for a moment. The much feared harassment and ridicule never materialized. We also took some shots at a lovely little gazebo, and under a vine-covered arbor. While doing these shots a group of young college men who were in an adjacent gazebo tried to entice us over for a drink. They were passing around a bottle, and felt that we wouldn’t be able to resist such a classy invitation. We politely declined, and they accepted our regrets like perfect gentlemen. It was a lovely location. If you’d like to see more of the photos we took in the park click on the link below. The threatening skies turned quite suddenly into a torrential downpour, and we were forced to scurry for the cover of our vehicle. We headed back for Sarah’s place, and a change of outfits. We still had another location in mind, and hoped the weather would clear in time for us to get it in. After about an hour of rain, and lightning the weather did clear. I had used the time to freshen my face, switch my hair, and change my outfit. I had chosen a shorter more edgy dress for this next location. We were going to go to the center of the city, and take some street shots. I wanted a more stark, sultry look for these pictures, and we decided to shoot them in black & white rather than color film. The location we had chosen was not one of the more glamorous in the city. There were several unoccupied storefronts, some three story walk-up apartments, and other small businesses along this little street. A friend of Sarah's owns a little thrift shop on the street. This was to be our first stop. They gave us the run of the place, and we got some great shots. Sarah followed me about the place while I shopped, and looked for treasures. I love thrift shops, and the owners were totally sweet to us. After the thrift shop we headed out onto the street. I posed in several different locations up, and down the block. We had a little caravan of kids following our activities from across the street. They seemed to be enjoying the interruption in the normal routine. People watched us from doorways, and windows. Again, we had nothing but positive reactions from everyone. It was quite a liberating experience. If you’d like to see more pics from our shoot on the city streets, just click the link below.
